Governing Board
Our U.S.-Based governing board manages the sustainability of the mission of the organization and are responsible stewards of financial contributions.
Corinne Paul is a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor at AJWS. In this role she leads advocacy with the US government regarding human rights in Haiti and other countries around the world. Previously she worked at an international non-governmental organization, where she helped improve support for health workers and women’s health access internationally. Corinne was also a foreign policy legislative aide in the U.S. Senate and worked for a nonprofit organization in Les Cayes, Haiti, where she was first introduced to Write to Be. Corinne holds a Master of Public Policy with a specialization in international development policy. She enjoys reading, working out, and spending time in nature.
Stafford D. Oliver (he/him)
Vice President
Stafford has held roles in international education across Europe, North America, and South Asia. Currently he works at the Institute of International Education (IIE), in which he has collaborated on educational initiatives throughout the United States and Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and Iran. As an undergraduate, Stafford was awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholar to study at SOAS, University of London. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and a Master of Science from The University of Edinburgh. In his free time he loves to travel, cycle and garden.
Kelsey is an international educator focused on creating cross-cultural learning opportunities for young people. At Rice University, she builds university-community partnerships to support international programming rooted in social justice. Prior to Rice, Kelsey facilitated service-learning programs in Haiti and administered U.S. Department of State study abroad programs at the Institute of International Education. Kelsey holds a B.A. in International Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University and a M.S.Ed. in International Educational Development from the University of Pennsylvania.
Brianna Patterson (she/her)
Media and Communications Chair
Brianna Patterson is a communications strategist specializing in social impact and supporting mission-driven organizations. She has contributed to marketing and messaging campaigns for high-profile brands and foundations, including John Legend’s Free America, Madonna’s Raising Malawi, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Previously, she served as Deputy Press Secretary and Digital Strategist in the US Senate, where she led multimedia efforts to communicate key legislative priorities on health, education, and equity. Brianna holds B.A.s in Cross-Cultural Communication and Spanish from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Djenie was born and raised in Les Cayes, Haiti, and moved to the US at the tender age of 11! Djenie holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Global Health from Saint Louis University and a proud return Peace Corps Volunteer – Morocco. Djenie is a Project Management and Global Public Health professional with 10+ years of relevant experience working in community health programs, human resources for health and capacity building in malaria programs, and project management across Francophone Africa and Haiti. Ms. Danjoint serves as a Sr. Health Specialist for Chemonics’ Health Practice within the Global Health Division. Currently, she supports and leads Health Practice efforts to engage externally through thought leadership, industry participation, and publications, and internally through capacity-strengthening, mentorship, and business development. Djenie enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring different cuisines, and spending time with friends and family!
Fania Jean is a Program Analyst at the DC Department of Insurance, Securities where she manages several equity initiatives to increase access to financial services in partnership with DC agencies, federal agencies, national associations, and
nonprofits. Prior to her current role, Fania served as a Capital City Fellow at the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and the DC Office of Planning. She earned her Master of Public Administration and Certificate in
Nonprofit Management at George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in International Affairs and Mass Media Communication at Florida State University. Fania is a first generation Haitian - American and first in her family to graduate from college. For fun, Fania likes to attend community events, follow her curiosity to explore new things and do any arts & crafts activities from painting to scrapbooking.
