Write to Be funds and works with Espwa to help facilitate the Fi Ki Fò program, meaning “strong girl” in Creole, which provides our participants with an additional 6-10 hours of skills training each week throughout the school year. Classes include sewing, cooking, art, computer literacy, French, and English, and are taught by strong Haitian women in the community, who also serve as on the ground mentors and role models.

Every year, Write to Be participants in the US and Haiti come together at Espwa for a culminating seven day workshop full of Fi Ki Fò activities on girl empowerment, leadership, self-esteem, and fun!

If you have a skill or talent you think could benefit Write to Be, or would like to get more involved, send us a note at info@writetobe.org. We are always looking to expand our network of strong women and men who support our Fi Ki Fò community.
